LOCH HORN
Brown Trout
Loch Horn lies 4 miles (6.5 km) north wast of Golspie at the head of Dunrobin Glen.
The Loch is nestled in a hollow surrounded by hillside, but commands a fantastic view of the Dornoch Firth and the “mannie” (Duke of Sutherland Statue on Ben Bhraggie) from its South East Corner.
Loch Horn holds a healthy stock of good sized hard fighting trout up to 4lb in weight.
An abundance of wildlife is apparent in the vicinity of the loch, and it is not uncommon to see Red Deer, Roe Deer, Eagle, Osprey, lizards, toads, frogs, and any number of wading birds while fishing there.
The loch itself is very clean, and contains a variety of insect life which sustains its trout population.
Season - March 15th - September 30th.
Loch Horn is a MEMBERS ONLY loch.
The club has a boat on the loch moored close to the dam.
Oars are supplied .
Boat hire is £ 5 per day.
The loch supplies water to Golspie, and therefore no petrol outboards are permitted.
The boat will not be let to persons under 18 years of age.
Sunday fishing is allowed , but must be booked and the key collected prior to 5pm on the Saturday.
The loch is FLY ONLY.
ALL fish must be returned.
Proof of Membership must be shown if requested by an authorised person.
Directions
From Lindsays shop, take the A9 north to the church corner. Turn hard left up the brae past the cemetary and carry on under the railway bridge.
Continue along the glen for 4 miles until you come to the bridge and side road with wind farm access signs. A steep hill track with a boom gate takes you up to the loch, or follow the burn to the left of the boom gate.
Be aware either way is a very steep climb.
LOCH BRORA
Brown Trout, Salmon, Sea Trout
Loch Brora is situated to the South East of the village of Brora itself.
The famous rivers Blackwater and Brora flow into its northern end and the Loch feeds the lower beats of the renowned River Brora.
Outboards are permitted.
The Loch holds Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon.
Season. 1st April - 15th October
No Bank Fishing
Fly fishing only
No Sunday fishing
The Club has a boat on the loch available at £10 per day.
(If not taken by 2pm the boat may be let for £5)
DIRECTIONS
From Lindsays store take the A9 North towards Brora . Across the bridge take the immediate left hand turn for Balnacoil. Follow the road until you come to farm bay where the clubs boat is moored.
LOCH LUNDIE / LOCH LUNNDAIDH
Brown trout fishing
Loch Lundie (Lunndaidh in Gaelic) is located one and a half miles South of Golspie in Strath Lunndaidh between Beinn Lunndaidh and Aberscross Hill .
The Loch is dammed at the South Eastern end where it is narrowest , and supplies water to the village of Golspie.
Season - 15th March - 30th September.
The club has one boat on the loch at present, moored on the North -East shore not to far from the dam. Oars are supplied . As the loch is a water supply no petrol outboards are permitted.
Boat for hire to members only £5 per day.
All persons in boat must be members.
Boats will not be let to persons under the age of 18.
Non members may bank fish for £5 per day.
Members may fish for free.
Sunday fishing permitted if key is collected before 5pm on the Saturday.
The loch holds a large population of average sized brown trout. The loch has many shallow bays and inlets around its shores offering excellent top water fishing.
If bank fishing, be aware that the inlet at the top end of the loch is wide and deep and you will have to walk a considerable distance along it to cross on foot.
Proof of membership must be shown if requested.
DIRECTIONS
From Lindsays store travel South on the A9.
As you pass the business park as you leave the village, take the next right up the road past the council buildings onto the gravel track. Follow the road until you come to the barrier where you can park.
Follow the forestry track until the track veers left up a steep hill. Take this route and follow the track until you come to a the edge of the forestry gate.
Follow the hill road until you reach the loch (approx 1.5 miles )
