Longhorns and snozzberries

August 19th 2021.

Apologies for the lack of blog this season folks. Had a lot on and haven't been fishing much in months.

Fished Loch Horn today. Quite a hard day all round.

Early on there was a massive hatch of long horned caddis on the go. With almost no wind the fish were clearly visible head and tailing on the emerging caddis. Which made them very difficult to catch!

Small dead drifted F fly ended up being the order of the day. Even then I only managed 8 fish and the biggest was only about 14 inches.

There was a chill in the air today for the first time in a long time.

Aside from the caddis, it's a bumper year for the blaeberries and in particular the crow berries, never seen so many.

As ever, the osprey was busy on the loch as well!

Afternoon brought a bit more wind, however that appeared to put the fish off feeding altogether. Fished for three hours without a touch.

Last orders brought a couple more very small fish .

All in all quite a hard day.
